How to Check the Pitch of a Screw Thread.
We often see a bolt with a screw / thread different, sometimes
it does not matter if we are not in demand to know the nuts pair of bolt, then
the right way to get the right pair is the nuts we know the size and type of of
the thread of the bolt.
Determining the pitch of the threads on a screw or bolt is
useful for selecting the correct replacement part. Matching the pitch for a nut
is important to avoid damaging the threads on the screw. An incorrectly matched
nut will "cross-thread" the grooves in the bolt. To avoid this issue,
a pitch gauge is used to measure the correct size of the threads. This device
requires a bit of trial and error before you
And how to check the pitch of a screw thread…?
Answer : Thread Pitch Gauge.!!!
Thread Pitch Gauge |
Instruction :
- · Open the pitch gauge in your dominate hand and select the first gauge in the group. Fold the rest back into the handle.
- · Pick up the bolt or screw in your other hand and apply the teeth on the gauge to the threads of the bolt.
- · Look to see if the gauge's teeth align perfectly with the threads. If they do not, select another gauge and measure again. Repeat this process until you find the correct gauge.
- · Look on the side of the gauge and record the number stamped on its side. This is the pitch of the threads.
